Offensive Trouble

This past Saturday UNC played Georgia Tech and was outplayed the entire game. The tar heels lost the game 28-7, the one word that describes Saturday's loss was disappointment. This week during interviews every single player said that they were disappointed, and that they should have played better. TJ Yates UNC's quarterback said that the offensive performance was an embarrassment and to except much better play from the offense this week in Chapel Hill when the Tar Heels face the Virginia Cavaliers. Even though the Cavs come into Chapel Hill winless the Tar Heels will be facing a tough 3-4 defense who is very disciplined and focused on getting their first win. This week in practice John Shoop should be working the offense harder than ever, if the Heels want to compete for an ACC title the offensive has to start clicking. The talent is there the veterans need to step up and help the underclassmen. The offensive line needs to start making better holes for Shaun Draughn to use his lighting speed and get out into the open and get big gains while we need them. I will say last week the line gave Yates plenty of time in the pocket he just could not get going. Erik Highsmith's touchdown catch was the only good looking offensive play of the whole game. Hopefully this week in practice the players will focus on playing the game instead of talking smack to the other team. Hopefully this upcoming week vs UVA the Tar Heels offensive woos will disappear and the true potential of this offense will shine through and will lead us to victory.
